Modern life is great, it is fast paced and nonstop, a huge contrast to 100 years ago. There’s a lot lot more going on now, and with the hustle and bustle of city life, this really isn’t helping our skin and collagen levels.

From late nights with coffee, alcohol and fast food on hand, there are a whole host of issues that can arise with your skin and potentially damage it. Some you can control, and some you can’t control such as pollution. As a society we are aware of the impact pollution can have on the environment, but we never really consider the impact it can have on our skin and body.

What you eat can have real impact on your body. We all know that if you eat unhealthy food on a regular basis then this is going to affect your weight and also possibly give you acne prone skin. However, eating poor food can really make a difference to your production of collagen, as a good diet would provide your body with plenty of collagen full nutrients.

Good daily habits that can benefit your skin include drinking lots of water; eating fruits, vegetables, healthy carbohydrates and protein rich foods. A healthy diet provides the nutrients that skin needs to stay strong and stretchy, and to regenerate itself.

City air contains hundreds of pollutants that have been found to destroy keratin, a vital skin protein that prevents moisture loss. When keratin is destroyed, it can cause a dull and dry appearance to the skin, worsening the appearance of lines and wrinkles. A lack of moisture makes the skin look flat and dull, and can emphasis any aging. Ensuring that your skin is plump and provides more of a youthful look.

Lifestyle choices

Some lifestyle habits can cause premature skin aging and result in unhealthy skin. People who smoke cigarettes often look older than they are as the ingredients in cigarettes are now to damage and kills collagen cells.

Also spending a lot of time in the sun can also cause premature skin aging, leading to fine lines, wrinkles freckles, and brown spots.
